Jason Champion (Dev)

I am a software engineer and business owner with experience as a technical founder and CTO.

I've built software products and software businesses. Maybe I can help build yours?

You might have seen me online somewhere. I'm active on Reddit, Bluesky, and YouTube. I used to be active on Quora and had a blog for over 20 years.

My native language is English and I am bilingual in Spanish.

Things I Can Do For You

Do you need a fractional CTO to help your organization part-time?

Do you need a principal engineer or architect for a project?

Do you have some AI-generated spaghetti code that you want to convert into a maintainable project with long-term viability?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, I can help you.

Products and Sites I've Built

I've contributed to more than 100 software releases. In addition to work I've done for companies shown on my LinkedIn profile, there is:

Video games for PC by Dragon Dropper

Data about Steam games at VideoGameData.com

Free audio samples in .wav format on FreeWaveSamples.com

Vintage synthesizer manuals and demos on SoundProgramming.net

Audio software for Windows at Zeta Centauri

My various code projects on GitHub

Game soundtrack and ambient music made with electronic instruments

Core Skills

I am highly skilled with C#, C++, and Python. I know JavaScript, but it's a second-tier language for me. I've always focused on desktop, data, and backend more than web frontend or mobile and am far more comfortable on the server than in the browser.

I've also worked on projects written in Go, Java, Ruby, and PHP.

I'm comfortable in most databases and I can write PostgreSQL queries in my sleep.

I started my career in tech as a PC technician and sysadmin, and am very comfortable with the deployment and DevOps side of development. I still have my old Network+, A+, and Microsoft MCSE certificates.

Values

I believe in doing business honestly, providing as much value as possible, creating maintainable and easy-to-understand projects, and that pedophiles should get the guillotine.
